These revolutionary mane and tail thinners are unique in that they actually thin thick manes and tails. They are made from high quality Scandinavian steel and are extremely durable. They can transform a full tail into a "pulled" tail ready for the show ring in minutes and without causing discomfort to the horse. It is guaranteed to work on the most sensitive of animals. There are four different options when it comes to the blades and we have included a guide below to the best use for each one!

Superfine blades are used mostly for finishing small show ponies or animals with small docks and very fine hair, as it will get close to the fine top hairs. Also used on all types where final presentation is critical as it will pick up the top fine hairs which are sometimes more difficult with the other grades. These are equally good for using on dogs and other small animals to de-matt and thin out thick hair.

Fine blades are mostly used on hair which have already been tidied or is quite fine. It is also useful to finish really thick tails when a show or close finish is needed, and the bulk of it has already been shaped with a coarser blade.

Medium blades are good for the average type of mane, tail or coat. This will cope with medium to soft hair and is ideal on manes and tails.

Coarse blades are good for thick full tails, manes and thick coats, which haven't been tidied before or are very coarse. This will process a large amount of thick hair easily and efficiently leaving a tidy looking finish. The coarse is also very good on natives that are being shown, and the end result needs to look tidy but still untouched.

Lisa's notes: These mane and tail thinners are brilliant and really do produce a fantastic result. I use this on my mare's tail as she dislikes her tail being pulled in the conventional manner and she will stand quite happily and let me use this with no problems. It is extremely simple to use, you just pull it through the mane and tail and it gently removes and thins the hair. I can get as good a result with this nifty little device as if I just used the traditional pulling technique. The yellow handled Easi-Grip range is the latest addition to the Smart Tails range. They take exactly the same blades as the Professional range, but are finished with a tough plastic Easi-Grip handle, making them much cheaper in price! Although the initial outlay may seem expensive, the blades will last a decent length of time before needing to be replaced and replacement blades can be easily purchased and fitted.
